When Moses approached the burning bush, he was told to remove his sandals because he was on holy ground. We worship a holy God. As David said, “Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (Ps 29:2) and we read in Psalm 93:5, “Your decrees are indeed enduring; holiness befits your house, O Lord, for all times.”
As we worship God in Spirit and in Truth, it is necessary to remove sin from our lives, just as Moses removed his sandals when approaching God. It is through His salvation, mercy and grace that we are enabled to walk in His righteousness.
“Be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ— to the glory and praise of God.” (Phil 1:11)
