| Shouts of Joy!
by Ralph LaFlamme
I am excited to finally be able to share with you the new things that the Lord has been doing! Many of you are supporters of this ministry and are eager to learn more about how He is using us to make His love known and bring about restoration in His Body.
Let me first comment on the title of this newsletter, T’ruah! (or Teruah). This is a Hebrew word meaning “alarm, signal, shout, war-cry, blast,” that is, to make a loud noise either by blowing a horn (e.g. with a Shofar, i.e. ram’s horn) or by shouting in prayer, i.e. worship. (See: Lev 23:23-25, 25:9, 29:1-11; Num 10:5-6, 29:1-6; Amos 8:4-5; Ps 47:2, 89:15, 100:1) We want to give God glory by sharing with you the wonderful things the Lord is doing through this ministry! So then let us now glorify Him by announcing His deeds with loud shouts!
Our ‘God of Surprises’ continues to multiply the directions in which He is calling us. Out of a tragic death and subsequent comfort offered to a devastated family, our ministry to youths in prison was birthed. Since then, this outreach has expanded and now includes bringing comfort to abused and neglected children, providing counsel to teen prostitutes, and is soon to include visiting the elderly in nursing homes. With the transfer of our incarcerated youths to adult facilities, providing support to adult prisoners has been added to the list as well.
We thank the Lord for also leading us further into our Hebraic roots. Various churches and prayer groups have asked us to give presentations on our Jewish heritage and/or present Seder meals. It is wonderful to see the outpouring of interest in our Hebraic roots shown by the Christian community!
